Gross domestic product (GDP) is the monetary value of all finished goods and services made within a country during a specific period. This value is made by people within the country in a given year.
A distinction is made between nominal GDP (gross figures) and GDP-PPP (Purchasing Power Parity). The latter enables comparing countries according to a basket of standard goods, which permits to have a better idea of the wealthier countries by erasing exchange rates. In this ranking, nominal GDP is denominated in billion US Dollar.
