Hospital beds per 1000 population in Africa

This article provides hospital beds per 1000 population; it gives an overview of the availability of hospital equipments for hospitalized patients. Hospital beds are composed of hospitalisation beds available in public and private hospitals as well as in specialized hospitals and rehabilitation centers. In most cases, beds for acute and chronic cares are taken into account because levels of required hospital services by country depends on many factors- like demographic issues and burden of illness- there is not a global objective for a number of hospital beds that will take into account all countries. Thus, though 2 hospital beds per 1000 population will be sufficient in a given country, 2 hospital beds per 1000 population in another country can be terribly insufficient because of the number of hospitalized patients.
