Samory Toure, the resistant

  • Born 1830 in Miniambaladougou (Guinea)
  • Created a disciplined army of 35,000 infantry and 3,000 cavalry and resisted for 16 years.
  • In 1882, he repulsed the attack of the French.
  • Captured in 1898, he was taken into custody in Gabon where he died on June 2, 1900.
